WE thought we were all done with the DR and MACEY but in our hearts we KNEW that we still had some roads to travel.  THIS is the 6th month that her leg and foot are still swollen.  Today she met with the infectious disease dr. at Blanks Children Hospital and he admitted they were more than stumped....they took more blood to see if anything had changed as far as the bacteria from "Cat Scratch..." and he told them that she actually could have gotten that bacteria anytime in her 6 years, and it was very very possible it has nothing to do with her foot and leg.  He did send her home with 5 days of antibiotics....I guess even they are willing to try anything now.  Maybe it will be that easy of a fix.

SO they told her mom and dad that the University and Blanks did not have the type of lymph dr. that Macey needs, and they are now checking for that endangered species of a DR. who is smart enough to figure out this little girl.  They mentioned Mayo Clinic in Rochester Minnesota or the Children's Hospital in Kanas City KS.  I wonder why there are no smart dr's closer to us.

We really just want Macey better and for the butterflies that live in all our stomachs to go away.  We want to stop thinking negative dark thoughts and what we really really want is for our Macey to be well again.  WE just don't know what else to say.

Deb and the pugs

Saturday, January 24, 2015

Dear PugKids:
I was given an assignment to write this week and I have been thinking  about what I was going to say.  Usually I have no problem coming up with words, but sometimes when the subject is very close to your soul the words struggle to come out.

Someone asked me the other day, when they watched the three of you carry on barking and jumping if I would do this all over again.  I assume they meant put up with your rotten behavior when people come to our house, but I know what they really meant was would I bring three pugs from two different puppy mills into our home.  Um?????  (Well you did put me on probation this week...I don't think a Golden Retriever would ever do that.)

All of my pugs have been like a never ending college assignment....I learn new things all the time.  I have always enjoyed going to school so that is GOOD for you ... but.....In hindsight I sure did not know what I was stepping off into to.  I thought all a dog needed was food, water, shelter, and love.  It worked with Zeus (our little minpin), so I believed it.......but then you all came along .

Poop-eating, food aggressive, anxious, fearful, severe eye problems, fighting among yourself---- pugs.  That was just the beginning, .......snoring, crying, ripping our pants when we walked across the floor, screaming when picked up.....oh my....oh my.....BUTT now  we have reached that place in our relationship where most of behaviors are gone, we manage the food aggression more easily, poop eating has disappeared,  we have a better relationship with the vet and that helps with the eye issues and understanding the medications we need, we know what might set off a squabble and we are better at handling it.

You three opened my eyes to the horrible living conditions that some dogs have to exist in and the long lasting effects from it.  From all the negative though, we have also seen the good----  such as what the local sanctuary can do with the survivors of the mills.  With each stumble and bumble we always came out on the other side, ...always.

You gave me blogville, where friends abound for us, through our funny times, and our sad times. A true gift.  You  did that for me.

I love each one of you.

Stella Rose, oh sweetie you were our first, oh my the things we have experienced, and learned from you.  And I know you have learned many things from us also.  You trust us to take care of you in a kind and loving way, and you know momma will always be there for you. What a joyful heart you have for us.  I felt it only this morning when I awoke and your cheek was resting against mine.    Next month you will be 5 years old, I can't believe we have had you that long already. You are my heart Stella Rose Long, my love.

And Maggie Mae, I admit I wasn't ready when you came walking into my life.  I had to make a decision to let you go back to that terrible world or keep you, and of course you stayed.  You brought so much laughter and joy to us, and still each night I know it is going to be you, that will take off zooming in your pug way, waiting on Gussie and Stella to chase you.  You are the clown.  And then when all is quiet you climb up on the couch, content, and lay beside me.  You understand we are always going to be your home.  You are my heart Margaret Mae Simpson.

Then there is my Angus.  What a sight you were when we brought you home.  One tiny boy with messed up eyes.  Now you are growing up and yet each night when you are sitting with me, and you give me that special kiss you are still my little baby Gussie.  Always.  You are brave and sweet, and you love your sisters.  You are my boy and my heart Angus McConnell Long.

This story cannot end here though because without Sammy J. and Trudie your lives would have been much different.  Their empty space in our house made room for us to love two more (mags and gussie), they made sure they left that lesson behind for us to learn.  I still have troubles thinking a lot about them, and not because I did not love them that much, but because I loved them greatly.  So I think of them in small doses, .......in the quiet.

So in our little house, your home is love....ours to you.....and yours to us.    Your Momma

Mom calls us her little miracles butt I do not think she is talking about the same thing as what Mr. Chewy
 sent us the others day:

Mom had tried this before when I and Sammy J. came to lives with her.  We were very hard to potty train because when you live in a cage with others in a puppy mill the owners don't care about important things like teaching you....so we had to UNLEARN the behaviors we had developed.  We thought it was okay to potty anywhere.  Mom was frustrated and she and dad did a lot of cleaning of carpets, and rugs.  She threw away a lot of rugs also.  She had read about Nature's Miracle and gave it a try.  She loved it, but then had a hard time finding it again, so she was very excited when she saw it on this months list.....now we know MR. CHEWY will have the product for us.

Here are some things about Nature's Miracle:

Stain Removal:

  • Wipe away any excess stain-causing material, and then soak the surface thoroughly with Nature’s Miracle Stain and Odor Remover.
  • Wait 5 minutes, and then wipe away stain with a cloth. For tough stains, use a stiff, bristle brush.
  • If the stain is not completely removed, re-soak area and allow Nature’s Miracle Stain and Odor Remover to work for 1 hour before wiping with a cloth.

Odor Elimination:

  • Thoroughly soak the entire area with Nature’s Miracle Stain and Odor Remover. For carpets, apply enough to reach the urine penetration in the pad and floor. This may mean lifting the carpet and applying directly to the pad and floor.
  • Allow the product to air dry. Depending on air circulation, carpets and upholstery may take up to 2 weeks to dry completely.
  • If after 2 weeks there is still an odor, Nature’s Miracle Stain and Odor Remover has not reached ALL of the odor-causing material. Pinpoint odor source and repeat cleaning process.
  • Keep the product away from children and pets and do not allow pets onto the treated area until it is completely dried.

  • Saturate areas of fabric affected by stain and odor with full-strength product, then wash as usual.
  • Always test surfaces to be treated for color fastness by applying to a hidden area and wiping with a cloth. If color is removed from the test area, do not use Stain and Odor Remover on this surface.
  • Always use Stain and Odor Remover at full strength for best results.
  • Use Nature’s Miracle Stain and Odor Remover before any other product as cleansers and detergents may chemically “set” the stain.
  • Stain and Odor Remover is not recommended for use on silks, leather, or suede.

When Maggie and Gussie came to live with us, Mom used pee pads, and gave them a designated area, they learned the rules very fast, see Mom was smarter the second time around.  Now mom uses Nature's Material mostly to wash our bedding.  For some reason, Angus and Margaret think it is funny to pee on our blankets, and sometimes our bed.  Natures Miracle gets the smell right out.

We give this product 5 stars, and no one even paid us to say this.

We are late posting about this "squirrel" day because of all the hub-bub that Angus caused in our house yesterday.  Even last night he was milking his behavior wif our Mom and she gave him extra treats, and hugs, and he laid around on her and dad's lap all night long.  Us girls kept waiting on that pill to knock him out into tomorrow but he must have a stomach of IRON cos never once did he nap.  We think it was a placebo......

So anyway back to the squirrels.  OUR dad feeds them.  WE have three or four squirrels (its hard to tell cos they all look alike) in our yard......we used to have a few more but we live right by the highway.....need I say more.   AnYway as I said OUR dad feeds them with CORN.  Corn that he buys, and yes folks we live in IOWA.  You would think DAd could come up wif a friend who has a farm or something but NOPE he goes to TRactor Supply for his CORN and he spends Monies.  LoTS of monies, cos corn in Iowa is expensive.....um?????

He spends OUR monies, for treats, and clothes, and college on the squirrels.  WHY you ask....it cos he likes them more than us!!!   He likes to watch them chatter in the trees, and run up and down the limbs and wave at him, BUTT as soon as he turns his back on them, and goes into the house, they start laughing at us stuck in ALCATRAZ while they are free, and they frow their poop at us.

Dad doesn't care.  We hate Squirrels.

See what a good boy I am sitting wif Macey?  WELL today I had something BAD happen to me, and even though it will SHOCK you the whole thing was caused by my MOM.  NOW we here in blogville know MOM is skating on thin ice as far as her probation but I finks she has went to far...wayyyyy to far. She has fallen through the ice, is what she did.  Here is my story Ernie.

So MOM comes home at noon and says she has a surprise for her special boy (meaning me and not meanerthanhellcat Dietzman) and hers calls me into the kitchen and gives me a special treat of bread and butter.  WELL, if I would have had my finking cap on, I would have realized that butter DON'T crunch but Isa was just loving that butter so much........

THen hers sat down and ate her lunch.  She kept asking my DAD if he ThOUGht I looked SLEEPY and Dad said NO.  I wondered why she suddenly was so worried about my noon sleep habits cos usually we three pugs snooze a lot at noontime....but hers kept worrying about it.

I finally toles her, "mom don't worry so much, Isa gonna take a nice long nap when yousa go back to work...."

THEN after ONE hour she put my coat and harness on.....oh boyhowdy....that was meaning she didn't haf to go back to work, but was taking us out to the fairgrounds, and this time it was just going to be just  ME.  WEll Mags was jumping all around and so was Stella when they saw Mom put the harness on me.  BUTT Mom said only I could go.

She kept checking my eyes, and watching for a yawn, but I was so pumped up, I ran to the car, and jumped up in the backseat.   THEN I noticed we turned the OPPOSITE way of the fairground and headed out to the FRANKENVET!!!!!!!!!   WHAT THE DOG....so ERNIE do you see what my own mom did to me....she drugged me......wif drugs!!!!!

I started to cry, of course it was a manly cry and not a sissy pug cry...and MOM toles me it was gonna be okay, and kept telling me more and more lies.

When we arrived at the FRANKENVET I promptly left peemail on the bushes just in case I was going to be put in captivity .....SO when SEARCH & RESCUE started looking for me, they would find evidence.........all the time MOM is looking a little green around hers ears, cos DAD toles her how bad it was last time wif getting my nails cut.  AND THE SLEEPING DRUG DID NOT WORK, COS I AM A SUPERHUMAN PUG!

This time I had my checkup, weight (21 lbs. of muscle) and shots AND glands and nails.  I WAS DONE FOR!!!!  I shook the walls of the office with my howls and screams.  Mom left the room because her guilt was so heavy she could not hardly stand, and hers faught hers was gonna puke;  another VET came rushing into the room to see what was making that horrible noise.  I figured at least I would go down FIGHTING and SCREAMING.

AT last I was finished being tortured  and they realized they could not beat Angus McConnell Long down any longer.  Mom dressed me quickly and paid the bill on the run.  So Ernie she PAID them to torture and drug me.....my own mom.

Now hers says it was for my own health, but hers is lying to me I finks.  Do you fink I have a case or do MOM's all over the world do this to their four legged children????????

You have heard our DAD say our back yard looks like a barnyard because of our farmers fence.  WELL our Mom doesn't care cos no one see's it cos we nevers have company that would care and it keeps us safe....

Because our house is as old as the hills and on the historical register MOM always keeps the front looking nice BUTT the backyard is where the real action is especially now that springtime thinks it has hit our end of IOWA.....MUD!!!!

ITS so muddy we could charge admission and start doing this in our backyard.

So yesterday MOM got the bright idea to fix it where she could walk across Alcatraz and not sink to her knees.  She went out to the local feed store (yep...???) and bought two of these.....

We thought at first she was going to make cool furniture or dog beds, or tables like they do on PINTEREST...but then we REMEMBERED we were a talking about our MOM.   Instead she laid it in the mud so she could step on it and get to the steps without mud all over her feet.

It looks very unsafe, and we are picturing MOM any minute catching her foot in between the boards and falling on her face.  WE actually asked Dad if he could set up one of those camera that peoples use to watch wildlife....(you can win monies on tv for funny videos)   he thought it was a good idea cos he has a SICK sense of humor like that.....so in the mean time this is what we are doing to enjoy the new look in our backyard barnyard

yep playing in the mud....boots in the backyard.

We tried to blog yesterday but the KENDOLL hates us so much...it often changes words my mom types and makes our whole comment sound stooopid...this is one of the reason we comment during the week......apparently it only likes us to READ on it.

Okay so Saturday night Mom decided we needed baf's cos our Alcatraz is a pigmudhole.  We loves running through it and kicking up our feets like Wilbur did in the Web Movie but Mom is not so happy wif that.  Between moping and vacuuming 109 times a day she is all wore out AND AUNT DIXIE was visiting us on Sunday.

Hers really loves us, and we were having the "Christmas that just keeps on going" yet one more time, Mom says we onlys has one more left.  Whew!

So it was bath time, and even blowdryer time cos ours baf's were so late in the evening.  We were all good.

Sunday morning bright and early AUnT DIXIE showed up at the door wif lots of presents and red apples for us.  Stella Rose showed her butt right away cos hers cried like a little baby for her apple but she had to wait until lunch time.  We were very good listening to our mom about not jumping up on OLD Aunt Dixie and knocking her overs.  Mom says Dixie is younger than hers, but taller, so she might fall over harder.  WE were confused.

Anyways we had a lovely Sunday wif Aunt Dixie saying we were so cute, and handsome, and cute, and funny and just cute!

Later in the day she helped our Mom make a gazillion bows for our big sisters florist shop she just leased.  First she was a nurse, and now she has decided to become a florist.  Mom is proud of her making a change.  So Aunt Dixie being the bow-whisper that she is helped make bows for upcoming Valentines Day.  Aunt Dixie made like 36 and Mom made like 3 and Aunt Dixie had to redo those and make them prettier.  One time we looked out into the kitchen and we faught our mom was wrapped up like a mummy with ribbon wif hearts and love written on it.  Apparently, our Mom should not quit her day job to make bows.  Poor Mom.

We loves you guys.....Stella, Mags, and Angus
P. S. We got good replys back from our Valentines.

OURS momma is working real hard on her 90 day probation so she wanted to get a jump on the Valentine Dance coming up.....(we figure after this work we won't see any typing again for awhile) we are very happy wif the work she has done for us today.

Stella Rose is asking Stan if he will go wif her?

And I am asking my sweet love Liberty if she will go wif me?

Good work MOM!

DO you know me?  My name is Angus McConnell Long and I have been gone for a LONG time from blogvilles....I am very afeared you have forgotten my face....I toles my Momma it has been like 987 days since I last posted and hers just rolled her eyes at me and toles me hers has been BUSY....I toles her she was FIRED.   Pugs come before WORK....hers should have had her priorities straight!!!!

So I went to our union rep (DAD) with a list of grievances against our MOTHER.  The worst starting wif me almost missing the BIG day with the DOODS cos the alarm didn't go off.  Our house was dark and I could have mistakenly put my uniform on backwards, and I know Officer Bites wouldn't have stood for that kind of mistake, and most peoples would have thought I was a doorman instead of police officer.  Plus it is in our Manual on page 1234 that we must never wear our uniform backwards......EVER!!!

AND another grief ance is hers changed our dog food and I puked it up after I ate it so fast.  Mom said I ate it so fast cos I usually eat like a piggy, not because it is new.  Plus hers said I had eaten it befores butt I still  blamed it all on hers.  I fink our mom is losing her mind.

AND I saw hers looking at the Golden Retriver Rescue page AGAIN the others day!!!  DAD had already toles her NEVER to look at that page cos our house is like a little MOUSE house, and no BIG dog over the size of US could even walk around, Mom said he was full of *** well poop, BUT we all thought she was done finking about it.  THEN I find her skimming through the kindle the others  night( when I had ASKEDED her already 124 times to blog for me,) looking at those big dogs.  I is sick of it!!!  SO I toles our DAD on her.  He had a long talk wif her, wif mostly hims a talking and hers putting her fingers in hers ears...MOM can be childish like that.

SO Stella Rose, Margaret Mae, myself and even meanerthanhell cat dietzman had a meeting and decided since it is January and snow is on the ground and it is cold outside, and we nevers gets any exercise that we may be a little on the grouchy side ourselves and after all MOM is the one that brought us home and takes care of us......remember this....

yeah Dad had FORGETTEN to feed little Stella while mom was gone overnight.  So we know there are some things we can always count on wif our MOM, like food and water, and hers always lets us sit wif her, and lick her face and kiss her.....she just doesn't type very good right now. So we are giving her one last chance...she is on a 90 day probation and she must do EVERYFING we ask her to do during the probation time and then she will be free again.  WE tried to make her wear an ankle bracelet but the sheriff wouldn't let us borrow one of us.  I will just have to go on amazon.com and see if they sell them on there.

LET my explain what happened at our house last week on the day of the important inauguration ...first we all went to be early so we could get up and head on over to all the events, well the winds were a blowing and it was very cold out BUTT we snuggled down with our parents for a good nights sleep.....yawn.........after sleeping for HOURS the sun came up and was shining in our faces.....

Stella: Why is the sun in our faces, when Momma gets up for work it is still dark?
Maggie: Maybe its cos I just brushed my teef and when I smile the brilliance lights up the day....
Angus:  OHMYPUG the alarm DID NOT go off and I am going to be late picking up all the importants dignitaries that are riding in my car..OHMYPUG!!!!  I AM LATE....I AM SO FIRED before I evens start my new job!!!!

Momma toles me to call down cos the electricity went off last night, and is still playing havoc with the lights, phones and computers....she would call up my BOSS and tell him I is on my way.

I brushed my teef real fast, threw on deodorant on under my arms, and legs. grabbed a Twinkie hand headed out the door.   Thankfully I made it in time, I picked up my friends, and headed out .....whew!!!

Later the three of us went to Dory's PJ party and had a super great time.  Lots of fun, friends and food.

Then over the weekend we went to Madi's box party....what fun....it was a very busy weekend, and when Sunday night rolled around we all three conked out in our beds and fell asleep.  More rain fell last night so schools are closed not to far from us because of the ice but we are all warm and safe.  WE are sorry we did not get to comment on any of the fun on everyones pages...Hopefully this week will work out better.

Gussie is all excited about his role in the inauguration coming up on Friday.  He had his uniform cleaned, TWICE;

And he has checked his radio out several times just to make sure the reception worked in the hills and valley's of Blogville;

He shined up the car he would be picking up the dignitaries in.....TWICE:

AND Maggie and I talked him into taking us for a ride around town while we were playing dress up ....he is just the BEST little brother ever!!!!

Of course some big mouth (DIETZMAN) called up Officer Bites and toles on Angus for having us girls in his car and Officer Bites gave him a dressing down....Mom said he was lucky he did not get a black mark in his file!!

Later Angus decided he had better go for a nice long run, so he would have a good nights sleep before the festivities started.......we told him to watch out for the squirrels cos they can be rather mean.

As most of you know I had the most fantastic wonderful adventure any little pug could ask for, even if it meant that Mean Ole Cat Dietzy had to go wif me to pugsit.  My mom is strict that way.  We haven't really had a chance to talk about it much, cos we all have been soooo busy with Christmas, and New Years and resting up for 2015.

So I wanted to take just a little time this morning to tell you of some of the memories from my trip that I would never ever forget.

FURST mean ole cat dietzy was nice to me as long as I just let him play with the catnip mice and lounge around....basically he left me alone and I left him alone. That plan worked out great!!

Mom did talk to him about "catnip" mice and the dangers of over indulging....but he just looked at her and rolled his eyes, and basically told her if she was as old as he is then its not gonna do much harm, besides the vet gave him a SPECIAL prescription for them, and he picked up a few more on the trip that night with Santa.  Um.....

I on the other hand, got to meet all the elves, Mrs. Claus and spend as much time with Santa as I wanted to .  He is a grand ole man.

(Look close at that one package and what is sitting on top of it....weird ...um????)

I told him all about where I was born at, and how I came to live with my momma and da.  I told him about the grandmonsters and grandpa and grandma and my big human sisters.  We talked and talked.  I askeded him lots of questions.  He is the smartest man I know!!!

He told me a couple of fings that I will always carry close to my heart and he also said it was just fine to share it wif the peoples and four-leggers I love and cares about.   Furst he said he looks at every family here on earth as a beautiful snow globe and that each one is different.  Some have music boxes with them, and lots of snow, some have beautiful houses with soft twinkly lights, and some have many children sliding down a snow covered hill, but no matter what the differences there are many similarities.  He toles me everyone snow globe has a tiny crack running down the side, and no one else can really see it, but hims.  That crack can be caused from lots of hurt, and loss and humans just struggling through their lives, but the globe always stays together.  I asked him if it is cos we use gorilla glue and he said no, it is the love that we feel for each other that holds them together and then he just patted me on my little head.

I faught about all the little globes my momma has in her kitchen window each one different, each one the same, and realized he is one smart santa.

He also toles me that when he started researching this "blogging" world he became amazed.  Yes, you humans actually amazed our Santa.  He toles me that being a blogger is never for the faint of heart.  That once we open the door and ask a family into our lives, we are also asking sorrow to take a seat at the table.  Santa said normally humans try to stay far away from their hearts hurting but the bloggers just jump right in.  He said he has never seen anything like it in his long long life.  I faught a lot about that after I got home, and visited my friends blogs.  I faught about how I still send Sweet Greta emails and sometimes hers sits with me on our special tree limb.  I faught about how even for a little pug how hard it is to let my friends stay at the rainbow bridge and not here on earth with me.  And how I nevers would have even known her if it wasn't for my momma a blogging.

I toles Santa that I hope 2015 will bring ONLY happiness...and sweet ole Santa just shook his head, and his snow globe, and then I saw the crack.  I know no matte what comes around the corner all the loves here will keep it together.  Santa toles me that.
