UPDATE ON MACEY

WE thought we were all done with the DR and MACEY but in our hearts we KNEW that we still had some roads to travel.  THIS is the 6th month that her leg and foot are still swollen.  Today she met with the infectious disease dr. at Blanks Children Hospital and he admitted they were more than stumped....they took more blood to see if anything had changed as far as the bacteria from "Cat Scratch..." and he told them that she actually could have gotten that bacteria anytime in her 6 years, and it was very very possible it has nothing to do with her foot and leg.  He did send her home with 5 days of antibiotics....I guess even they are willing to try anything now.  Maybe it will be that easy of a fix.

SO they told her mom and dad that the University and Blanks did not have the type of lymph dr. that Macey needs, and they are now checking for that endangered species of a DR. who is smart enough to figure out this little girl.  They mentioned Mayo Clinic in Rochester Minnesota or the Children's Hospital in Kanas City KS.  I wonder why there are no smart dr's closer to us.

We really just want Macey better and for the butterflies that live in all our stomachs to go away.  We want to stop thinking negative dark thoughts and what we really really want is for our Macey to be well again.  WE just don't know what else to say.

  2. We all want that little girl better. So disheartening not to be able to find an appropriate doctor or get a definitive diagnosis and prognosis. Hope the antibiotics help....it would be wonderful.

    Hugs to all of you.

Gosh, I'm getting so wound up, it must be dreadful for you. Lots and lots of loves and hugs from us. (wish the magic wand on Mum's desk really could do magic!)

  13. DRATS!!!!!! I were SO hoping that that darn leg was better :( Have they thought about sending her to a physical therapist that specializes in lymphadema? That is what that had my Mom do after her breast cancer surgery to help with the lymphadema she developed. Just a thought, but I wanted to share.

  19. I guess we get so used to the amazing things we can do medically that we forget how complex our bodies actually are. We can only imagine how frustrating this is for sweet Macey and her family! We continue to pray that a successful treatment plan can be developed and she can get healthy and back to being a little girl with no worries.
